In response to the murder of Tyre Nichols, we joined friends and family of Tyre and Tony Hawk’s The Skatepark Project to rebuild his childhood skatepark in Sacramento, which has been updated and renamed in his honor and memory. Based in Regency Community Park, the Tyre Nichols Skatepark was refurbished with support and donations from the Vans Checkerboard Fund, The Skatepark Project, California Skateparks, and local Council member Lisa Kaplan's office. With guidance from his close friends and family, the local skatepark brings Tyre’s vision to life and serves as a source to unite the community and foster healing.
